Happy Halloween!!

Well another big day for our big girl. Little did she know this morning, that later in the day everyone she knows would all be dressed so SILLY.

The day started out as usual, with morning playtime and some good eats. But something was strange in the air and their was much more orange than usual. While S was out and about with Mom, people had on some pretty silly outfits.


As we hinted at earlier, witches was the big theme this year. Not only was the little bug a witch, so was Mom, Aunt Shelli, and cousin Tori. Dad elected not to a be a witch, but a cross between a mummy and Screech Powers.

We had a pre-party at some friends and then it was off in search of some candy. The candy was plentiful and not hard to come by.

Sofia had a blast with her 1st Halloween and is fast asleep now, probably excited for next year.

A Very Special Birthday Gift from Guatemala

The outfit Sofia is wearing in the following photos was a very special gift from our dear friends in Guatemala. We feel very fortunate to be able to stay in touch with her amazing foster family. They sent this beautiful traditional Guatemalan dress and shoes as a birthday gift.

I REALLY meant to get up some pictures last night. I REALLY did.
But as the baby went to sleep towards 10, so did I. We have some great pictures from yesterday we too, that will get posted shortly.

Anyway---the weekend was great and Sofia enjoyed some free time out of the office. She got to see her aunt Karen all weekend, as well as her grandpa Norm and grandma Linda.

Hello

No new pictures today, but I did want to take the time to say hello to all those faithful readers out there in cyberspace. We just finished up dinner a bit ago. Sofia thought it would be fun to lather up her clean hair with her dinner of mashed potatoes and corn.

That makes the most sense, right? I mean who would not want to put your dinner in the clean hair that sits on your head.

Anyway we are about to put her to bed. She is currently spouting some new teeth, which results in not the best night's sleep. We are lucky, as the nights she does not sleep too great do not involve any crying/screaming/yelling that we have heard that can be involved with teething issues. Sofia really just can't sleep too well sometimes when the teeth are bothering her. She is a good sport about it and does not give off the impression that their is much pain to go along with it, just some annoyance.

Belated Update

Greetings!!
Well we have been busy up here, which is my excuse for not updating the blog.

We made a trip to Eugene last Thursday and got back Sunday morning. We had a great time with Jane's parents (as usual), as the city of Eugene is at it's prettiest at this time of year. The best thing about our home in Eugene is not 1, but 2 fireplaces!! Nothing beats the smell and sound of a real fire in the house.

Now that we left Eugene, our dogs have become sad. They usually get pouty when we take them away from their cousin dogs. But the dogs got some good news yesterday as the days are getting shorter until we live in Eugene.

Back to the baby....She is not walking yet, but seems to get closer by the day. And we we about to reverse her car seat so she faces forward. She is eating more and more every day, getting to try new foods all the time. Her new favorite is sweet potatoes, which we had each night over the weekend. She even emphasizes her interest, with an "oh" after each bite.

Dinner+Bath+More

It has really been enjoyable as Sofia now can eat lots of different foods. With her mighty teeth, she can experience all type of food us crazy adults eat. And she loves to take full advantage of it. Last night was especially fun as she really to a liking to our dinner. As you can see she was licking her tray. The pictures don't really do it justice. It was by far the highlight of the day and kept us laughing for a while.

Instances such as this are quite common now that we brought the bug into our life, which is amazingly rewarding as a new parent.

So we obviously needed to get her cleaned up after a hearty feast. She got to party in the bathtub for a bit before hitting the sack.

Back Home

Dad got back Sunday afternoon from a long 7 days away from the girls. Thanks to Mom for getting by without me. It was great to see the girls when I arrived back in the very wet Northwest.

Baby bug somehow turned into a giant, even though I did not seem to be gone that long. Mommy spoiled her during the birthday week, as she had all types of new toys to play with.

I wanted to thank all of you who sent birthday wishes, cards, etc. It meant alot to share the occasion with all of you. Sofia is growing by the day, as are her teeth.
She has been annoyed with those giant white things popping out of her gums. She has handled it really well.

Well, the other different thing up here is the weather. Summer is most certainly gone and we are getting ready for the wet, dark winter that lies ahead in the great Northwest. We invested in a new sock collection for Sofia and got out her winter wear.

Pics from Sofia's actual Birthday 10/2. Her big bash was last weekend but we still had a little celebration in honor of the big "1". Where did baby Sofia go? Someone came and switched her with a toddler overnight. Anyways, here are more b-day pics!
